Eric F. Rivera is a first generation American whose family humbly immigrated from El Salvador to the United States in the early 1960’s. His father had aspired to be an attorney in his home country but various obstacles prevented that from ever happening. His father’s dreams, did however, inspire Eric to adopt his ambition of one day becoming an attorney.
Eric is a graduate of California State Northridge, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In addition to being a full-time college student, Eric also started his own company as a bilingual private investigator, working for various law firms and insurance companies throughout Southern California and beyond.
After graduating college, he attended California Western School of Law in San Diego to pursue his law degree. In 1996, Mr. Rivera graduated with a Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law.
Led by his parents’ hard work and dedication, Eric graduated law school and passed the bar in 1997. Since that time, he has been 100% dedicated to representing injury victims, many of whom are Spanish speaking and/or underprivileged
After graduating law school, he worked for various civil litigation firms that handled wrongful death cases and personal injury and appeals. Thereafter, he joined Golper & Sullivan as an associate attorney, focusing on personal injury, workers’ compensation, and wrongful death cases. After many years of hard work and developing a successful track record, Eric was elevated to partner, forming Golper, Sullivan and Rivera in January 2002. After 20 years, Jamie Golper retired and Sullivan, Rivera, Osuna and Sullivan was formed in January 2023.
Mr. Rivera is actively involved in many local and statewide associations, including the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the California Bar Association, and California Applicant’s Attorney Association. In addition, he is accredited to practice before the U.S. District Court of Southern California and was a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel award for his pro bono and charitable work.
Eric is extremely prideful of being of Latin descent and is proud of his local work, which is dedicated in large part to the Latin community. Throughout his career, Mr. Rivera has collected millions of dollars in recovery and compensation for his clients that have been harmed by individuals and business alike. Many of these clients are Spanish speaking who find comfort and trust in our firm, given that Sullivan, Rivera, Osuna and Sullivan is a fully bilingual law firm, and the fact that we are well aware of the challenges and obstacles which our clients face on a daily basis.
